Healing Hand Soap - DIY


I'm always up for making an improvement. Hand soap is one of those things I really didn't think about much but use all the time. I actually like washing my hands. The sound of the water is relaxing to me. And until recently, I have always used name brand soap. We all know how many harsh chemicals are in some of our household products, so I got creative to see if I could make an improved version that was antibacterial but all natural. It turned out even better than I expected! This soap is not only made of natural ingredients people have used for ages, it has healing benefits and a refreshing and luxurious scent. The lemon and tea tree kill harmful bacteria and the tea tree and vitamin E provide the magical healing touch! Enjoy!

 Healing Hand Soap
  • 1/2 c distilled water
  • 1/2 c castile soap
  • 1 tbsp Vitamin E oil
  • 1 tbsp sweet almond oil
  • 6 drops tea tree oil
  • 3 drops peppermint oil
  • 5 drops lemon oil
Castile Soap:

 After millennia of use in Syria, the famous soap went on a journey across the vast distance of the Silk Road, reaching Asia, the Middle East, and Persia, where it was first noticed by Europeans. During the 11th century, Crusaders encountered caravans filled with Castile soap and saw how it was made during their stay in Holy Lands. It revolutionized public sanitation and personal hygiene after the middle ages and was popular with Spanish royalty.

Tea Tree Oil:

 In 1770, Captain James Cook of the British Royal Navy found masses of trees thick with sticky, aromatic leaves that by boiling rendered a spicy tea near present day Sydney, Australia. As the tea tree oil leaves fell into the waters of the surrounding lagoons they created waters that today are still considered magical. The leaves of the tea tree were used for many years by the indigenous people of Australia who used it to treat cuts and wounds. Tea tree is an antiviral and antifungal oil and can heal infections, headaches, reduce pain and heal wounds.
